  • 10.00

Tasting Notes: malty, earthy, ripe fruit, light spice

Description:  A classic single-estate Assam black tea from the Mahaluxmi Estate in Upper Assam, India. This TGFOP1 tea has a well-made leaf with golden tips and brews into a bold, traditional cup of black tea. Full bodied with pronounced malt and earthy depth, it pairs well with milk, sugar, or honey.

Assam Mahaluxmi Estate TGFOP1 is best suited for customers who enjoy a stronger, more full-flavored Assam. It delivers deeper maltiness layered with subtle peat-moss earthiness and a faint germinating character, along with ripe fruit notes and a lightly spiced finish. This is a dependable choice for those who prefer a more rugged, traditional black tea. If you enjoy our Scottish Breakfast, we recommend this Assam.

The Assam region lies along the Brahmaputra River in northeastern India, where hot, humid temperatures and heavy rainfall create ideal growing conditions for bold black teas. The Mahaluxmi Estate is located in this traditional growing area and produces orthodox Assam teas that reflect the region’s signature malt-forward character and depth of flavor.

Tippy is a tea term used when describing unopened leaf buds (Pekoe tips) that appear as golden flecks in the dry leaf. These tips contribute natural sweetness and help balance the cup. Malty is a tea term for black teas that describes a flavor reminiscent of barley, corn, or grain. This tea is graded TGFOP1, meaning Tippy Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe One. This grade indicates well-made full leaves with a good proportion of golden tips.
