Tasting Notes: honey, sweet fruit, honeysuckle, caramel

Description: Jin Jun Mei, commonly translated as Golden Eyebrow, is one of China’s most prestigious black teas. Traditionally served with pride to honor friendship, it is crafted from tender shoots harvested before the Qing Ming holiday in the Wuyi Mountains of Fujian Province.

The delicate shoots are carefully shaped into long, slender leaves resembling an eyebrow and then fully oxidized. Although it is a black tea, Jin Jun Mei steeps into a clear, translucent golden cup with a highly fragrant honey aroma.

The first infusion is silky, mellow, and naturally sweet with layers of fruit and soft honeysuckle. As the leaves continue to open, later infusions reveal deeper fruit and delicate caramel notes. This complex tea may be steeped multiple times.

Ingredients: black tea from the Wuyi Mountains, Fujian Province, China

Steep Directions: steep 1 heaping teaspoon of tea per 8 oz of water, 195-200°F, for 2-3 minutes.
