Description: A medium-bodied black tea from the Golaghat District of Upper Assam, India. A classic Assam that we love straight up but is also sturdy enough to take milk and sugar.

A high-grade Assam with balanced complexity and smooth malty notes. Ripe fruit notes of apricot and grape balance with a subtle cocoa finish. In this classic Assam black tea, the hearty maltiness is the thread the ties the flavors together. A satisfying and complex Assam black tea that is recommend for all black tea lovers.

The Jamguri tea estate is in the northeast corner of Assam, India is near the Dhansiri river. The name "Jamguri" means "place of the jamun tree" named after the Java plum trees which grow in the area. Under cultivation since 1898, this tea estate exclusively produces organic and bio-dynamic teas in addition to having a strong social commitment to their employees.

Tippy is a tea term used when describing an unopened bud (Pekoe tip) exists in the tea. The tawny golden tippy quality of this tea promises a sweetened and smooth flavor. Malty is a tea term for black teas that describes a flavor that resembles the taste similar to germinating barley, corn, or oat. The Indian grading system of this tea is TGFOP1 which is an acronym for Tippy Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe One. This grade means that this tea has the highest proportion of tippy full long wiry leaves and is of the top grade of Assam black teas. The “1” means that the grade is the highest quality leaves in the TGFOP classification.

Steep Directions: steep 1 heaping teaspoon of tea per 8 oz boiling water, 205-212°F, for 3-5 minutes
