Yakbukita Wakoucha Organic
Tasting Notes: honey, malty sweetness, apricot, chrysanthemum
Description: A rare, small-batch Japanese black tea from Shizuoka, crafted with organically grown Yabukita leaves, a cultivar most commonly used for green tea in Japan.
Wakoucha is the name for Japanese black tea, still a niche category but gaining attention for its smooth character and natural sweetness. Fully oxidized using traditional methods, Yabukita Wakoucha brews to a warm amber red with notes of golden honey, bright apricot, and a gentle finish of cinnamon and nutmeg-like spice.
Soft floral notes of chrysanthemum and lilac add dimension and earthiness without dominating the cup. Compared to Benifuuki, this tea is lighter in body with a cleaner finish and subtle floral lift.
Grown at elevation by second-generation organic farmers, this unscented, single-origin wakoucha reflects the quieter, more refined side of Japanese tea craftsmanship.
Ingredients: organic Japanese black tea (wakoucha) from the Yabukita cultivar grown in Shizuoka, Japan
