Pu'er can be compressed into bricks and shapes or crafted in a loose leaf style. This particular pu'er is crafted from black tea, rolled into large pearls, and then aged 5 years. This handcrafted Shou Pu'er has a smooth, complex, and earthy taste with hints of forest floor and lingering sweetness.
We suggest brewing these pearls multiple times with increasing steep times. Each separate infusion will allow the pearls to unfurl and encourage new flavor nuances to emerge.

Pu'er is an aged and fermented tea that is produced in the Yunnan province China. This ancient tea is now beloved all around the world. It was inadvertently created on the Tea Horse Road, an ancient trade route that spanned from China to Tibet. The thousand mile trade route navigated through mountains with harsh conditions. During the journey, it was found that tea leaves were altered by moisture, varying temperatures, and sunlight exposure. These natural conditions resulted in a fermentation and aging process of the tea. This process created a tea with unique taste profiles and particular health benefits. Nowadays, pu'er tea is deliberately aged and fermented to re-create the tea that was crafted while on the Tea Horse Road.
Ingredients: rolled aged pu'er tea from Yunnan province China
Steep Directions: steep 1-2 pu'er pearls per 8 oz of 205-212°F boiling water. Steep for multiple infusions with increasing subsequent time such as: 30 sec, 1 min, 1.5 min, 2 min, 2.5 min, 3 min, and 3.5 minutes. Continue steeping until the rolled leaves are completely unfurled.
