Jane Austen Breakfast
Tasting Notes: refined, smooth, malty, brisk
Description: Created in celebration of Jane Austen’s 250th birthday year, this commemorative tea pays tribute to one of the most enduring voices in English literature. This tea is part of our literary collection of Jane Austen teas blended in honor of her works.
Jane Austen Breakfast is a medium-bodied black tea with structure and depth. It reflects the same thoughtful balance found in her prose. To honor Austen, we created this composed and balanced cup that is strong enough to take milk and sugar, brisk enough for lemon, and elegant enough to enjoy on its own.
Tea was central to Austen’s daily life and her novels. Afternoon tea in the drawing room was a familiar scene throughout her writing. It is where characters gather, observe, flirt, and reveal.
This breakfast-style blend features distinctive teas from China and Sri Lanka. Ceylon black tea adds briskness and lift, giving the blend a bright, lively edge. Yunnan black tea grounds the cup with woodsy and earthy depth, echoing the weight of Austen’s storytelling. Keemun black tea ties it all together with refined smoothness and elegance, along with subtle touches of dark cocoa, dark red fruit, and gentle toastiness.
In Austen’s world, tea was part of the rhythm of daily life. It was a ritual for reflection, conversation, and wit. This tea honors that legacy.
“Let us have the luxury of tea.”
— Jane Austen, personal letter (1811)
