Assam Mangalam Estate

  • 1400

Tasting Notes: malty, red wine, light spice

Description: A premium Assam black tea that is superb on its own but also sturdy enough to stand up to milk and sugar. A full-bodied Indian black tea that is complex with rich notes of ripe fruit, subtle spice undertones, and a deep red wine finish.

Mangalam Estate is a premium Assam estate in the Sibsagar district in the northeastern part of India. The Sibsagar tea district is located on a flat plain with lush green jungles that allow the tea plant to grow abundantly. The result of the growing conditions in Sibsagar is the rich and flavorful notes found in each sip of Mangalam Estate teas.

Mangalam, which translates to “feel good”,  is a tea estate that produces premium grade Assam teas that are full-bodied, tippy (many golden tips of the leaf and designates premium teas), and malty. This exquisite tea has lingering red wine notes with soft hints of earth and spice at the finish.  We prefer this tea straight up but it can take milk, sugar, or honey.

Ingredients: Assam black tea from Mangalam Estate in India in FTGFOP grade (finest tippy golden flowery orange pekoe)

Steep Directions: steep 1 heaping teaspoon of tea per 8 oz boiling water, 205-212°F, for 3-5 minutes
