NEW VERSION | BOLD FULL-LEAF CHAI

Tasting Notes: cardamom, cinnamon, warm spice

Description: A traditional Indian Masala Chai featuring a premium Broken Orange Pekoe (BOP) black tea blended with coarse-cut spices, staying true to the classic spiced chai enjoyed throughout India, the birthplace of this beloved tea.

Blended with generous amounts of aromatic cardamom and cinnamon, complemented by clove and ginger. The fragrant cardamom and warming cinnamon create a rich, beautifully balanced spiced tea that holds up exceptionally well to milk and sugar and is also great straight up.

Chai has a rich history in India, where tea is much more than a beverage. It is part of everyday life, enjoyed at home, shared with guests, and served by chaiwallahs (tea vendors) at markets, street stalls, and railway stations throughout the country. In Hindi, the word Chai (चाय) translates to tea, while Masala (मसाला) means a mixture of spices. Together, Masala Chai simply means spiced tea. Recipes vary from family to family, with each household having its own interpretation of this beloved Indian tradition.

This Masala Chai brews an exceptionally bold, rich, and aromatic cup, with just the right balance of black tea and warming spices. The fuller-cut black tea leaves and generous pieces of spice create a deeply satisfying cup that is anything but light.

Enjoy it straight up, with a little honey, or prepare it with milk and sugar for a classic Indian-style chai. It's also delicious iced!

Ingredients: black tea, cardamom, cinnamon, clove, ginger

Steep Directions: steep 1 heaping teaspoon of tea per 8 oz boiling water, 205-212°F, for 3-5 minutes

NOTE: Our original Masala Chai, introduced in 2010, was made with a quick-infusing fine leaf cut and finely cut spices. For this updated selection, we've moved to a premium Broken Orange Pekoe (BOP) black tea with coarse-cut spices. While the leaf and spice cuts have changed, we've maintained the generous cardamom and cinnamon character of our original recipe. The result is a bold, smooth, full-bodied chai that stands up beautifully to milk and sugar.
