  • 900

Tasting Notes: malty, rich, hearty

Description: A classic full-bodied Assam black tea from India. A malty black tea that is smooth and hearty.  A rounded mouth-feel and brisk finish makes this a satisfying and robust black tea. Notes of baked bread, cocoa, and a hint of spice linger.  A sturdy tea that is excellent to pair with milk and sugar.

The Assam region of India produces bold tasting and burgundy hued teas that are rich, mellow, and smooth. The Halmari Estate, an Indian Assam Tea Estate in the Dibrugarh district of India, produces notably tippy and malty teas. These are excellent teas for those that love breakfast teas - strong malty black teas that work well on their own or with milk and sugar.

Tippy is a tea term used when describing an unopened bud (Pekoe tip) exists in the tea. The tawny golden tippy quality of this tea promises a sweetened and smooth flavor. Malty is a tea term for black teas that describes a flavor that resembles the taste similar to germinating barley, corn, or oat. The Indian grading system of this tea is TGFBOP which is an acronym for Tippy Golden Flowery Broken Orange Pekoe.

Ingredients: Assam black tea from the Halmari Estate in India in TGFBOP grade (tippy golden flowery orange pekoe)
