Sri Lanka, formerly known as Ceylon, has been providing excellent teas since the mid 1800's and is currently one of the largest tea producing countries in the world. This particular Ceylon comes from the Bogawantalwa Valley in the Dimbula region in Western Sri Lanka. This fertile plantation, which is located at an altitude of between 3,300 and 4,500 feet, is known for their high-quality black tea that are produced in the classic Ceylon style. The Dimbula District is a distinctive part of Sri Lanka’s foremost recognized tea growing region, The Hill Country, and its location within the Bogawantalwa Valley is known as “The Golden Valley” which was one of the first areas to be planted with tea plants in the late 19th century.
